CLIENT - City of Memphis, Tennessee
DESCRIPTION - Working with the City of Memphis Division of Park and Neighborhood Services, the members of DT design|studio served as the lead consultant and landscape architect, preparing construction documents and performing extensive construction administration throughout the construction process. The 23 acre park site was originally farm land that had been taken over by second growth forest. DT Design carefully master planned the park in a manner that would preserve the natural character of the site and accentuate large existing specimen trees in the playground and along the trail. A public outreach effort was implemented to determine which amenities were the most important to the area residents. The park features a 1/2 mile walking trail, a large playground area with two swing sets and two play structures, picnic pavilion, grills and picnic tables, and a large open grass field. The park opened May 2014, and is already being heavily used by residents of all ages.
